GOAT RUN
general TERMS & CONDITIONs

These General Terms and Conditions apply to every registration for and participation in the Goat Run, organized by The Rebelgians, hereinafter referred to as "the Organizer."

By registering for the Goat Run, the participant acknowledges having read these General Terms and Conditions and accepts them unconditionally.

 

Article 1 – Registration

Registration is only considered final once:

  • the registration form has been completed accurately and in full;

  • full payment has been received;

  • these General Terms and Conditions have been accepted.

Participants/drivers declare that they are at least 21 years of age at the time of registration and have a minimum of three (3) years of experience driving a manual transmission vehicle.

The Organizer reserves the right to refuse any registration that does not meet these conditions.

 

Article 2 – Right of Withdrawal

In accordance with Article VI.53, 12° of the Belgian Code of Economic Law, the statutory right of withdrawal does not apply to leisure activities taking place on a specific date.

All registrations are final. In the event of non-participation, regardless of the reason, participants are not entitled to any refund of the registration fee, administrative costs, or any purchased extras.

 

Article 3 – Participation

Participation is entirely at the participant's own risk.

The participant declares that they:

  • are in sufficient physical condition;

  • are medically fit to travel approximately 1,000 km over six days;

  • have adequately prepared for the event.

The Organizer reserves the right to refuse or exclude participants who:

  • endanger their own safety or that of others;

  • fail to follow instructions given by event staff;

  • behave in an unsportsmanlike, aggressive, or inappropriate manner.

 

Article 4 – Respect for the Environment

Participants undertake to:

  • leave no litter behind;

  • respect nature and the environment;

  • respect private property;

  • treat fellow participants with respect.

 

Article 5 – Prices and Payment

Unless otherwise stated, all prices include VAT.

Payments must be made exclusively through the official payment methods provided by the registration platform.

Upon successful payment, the participant will receive a confirmation by email.

Article 7 – Force Majeure

Force majeure refers to any circumstance beyond the reasonable control of the Organizer, including but not limited to:

  • extreme weather conditions;

  • storms;

  • excessive heat;

  • flooding;

  • fire;

  • pandemics;

  • terrorist threats;

  • government measures;

  • strikes;

  • safety or security risks.

In such circumstances, the Organizer may:

  • modify the event;

  • postpone the event;

  • shorten the event;

  • cancel the event.

The Organizer shall not be held liable for any consequences arising from force majeure.

Force majeure does not automatically entitle participants to a refund.

Where reasonably possible, the Organizer will provide appropriate compensation, such as a ticket or discount for a future edition.

The registration fee will only be refunded in full if the Organizer cancels the event due to an insufficient number of registrations.

 

Article 8 – The Vehicle

8.1 Definitions

  • Participant: the natural or legal person entering into the agreement, acting both as payer and principal driver.

  • Rental Organization: R-IX Company (La Deuche France), 368 Chemin de la Boucheyronne, 84400 Apt, France, registered under number 911 778 249 RCS Avignon.

  • Vehicle: the passenger or recreational vehicle rented for the duration of the rental agreement.

  • Damage and Theft: any damage to the vehicle, including broken windows, lenses, mirrors and headlights, as well as theft, attempted theft, vandalism or theft of accessories.

8.2 Rental Conditions

The participant must provide all information necessary to conclude the rental agreement, including identity, address, driving licence category and date of issue.

The person completing and signing the agreement remains responsible for the vehicle throughout the entire rental period.

Driver requirements:

  • Minimum age: 21 years

  • Valid driving licence held for at least 12 months, corresponding to the category of the rented vehicle

  • Minimum three (3) years' experience driving a manual transmission vehicle

  • If the driving licence is not written in the Roman alphabet, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is mandatory.

8.3 Vehicle Condition

The vehicle is provided in excellent condition.

A vehicle inspection report will be completed when the keys are handed over.

Any visible damage not recorded during the handover cannot later be claimed by the participant.

The vehicle is supplied clean.

The participant assumes legal responsibility for the vehicle until it is returned.

8.4 Use of the Vehicle

The participant agrees to operate the vehicle carefully and in accordance with all applicable traffic laws.

The vehicle may only be used for the non-commercial transportation of passengers.

8.5 Restrictions on Use

  • Driving off public roads is strictly prohibited.

  • Driving on motorways/highways is strictly prohibited. Violation of this rule will result in a €250 penalty, deducted from the security deposit.

  • Maximum occupancy: 4 persons.

8.6 Maintenance and Mechanical Issues

The participant is responsible for carrying out routine checks (oil, coolant, fluids and tyre pressure) and for paying attention to dashboard warning lights.

Any damage not resulting from normal wear and tear must be repaired or replaced at the participant's expense.

 

Article 9 – Liability & 2CV Insurance

9.1 Excess and Security Deposit

  • Insurance excess: €1,500

  • Security deposit: €1,500 (credit card pre-authorisation; this is not payment of the insurance excess)

The security deposit serves solely as a payment guarantee and does not replace the insurance excess.

If the insurance excess becomes payable following an accident, the participant remains liable for any amount exceeding the security deposit.

The deposit will be pre-authorised on site upon collection of the vehicle keys.

In the event of damage:

  • If repair costs are below the insurance excess, the participant will be invoiced directly.

  • If repair costs are equal to or exceed the insurance excess, the insurer will intervene, but the participant remains liable up to the amount of the insurance excess.

9.2 Additional Insurance Cover

The vehicle is covered by comprehensive motor insurance in accordance with applicable legislation.

Certain exclusions apply, including baggage, animals and personal belongings.

9.3 Damage Remaining the Participant's Responsibility

Upon return of the vehicle, its mechanical and cosmetic condition will be inspected immediately.

Any damage identified compared with the original inspection report may result in a partial or full deduction from the security deposit based on an estimate, repair invoice or independent expert assessment.

The following always remain the participant's responsibility:

  • Damage to the lower parts of the vehicle (below the wheel axles) or upper parts (roof, soft top, wheels, mirrors and accessories)

  • Repatriation and immobilisation costs arising from breakdowns caused by the participant or use outside the contractual limits

  • Intentional or accidental damage to the vehicle interior

  • Compensation if the vehicle is returned as a total loss

9.4 Accident Reporting

All incidents must be reported to the Organizer within 24 hours.

The participant must:

  • complete an accident report in the event of injuries, or obtain the contact details of witnesses;

  • notify the police immediately where required;

  • provide the Organizer with all documents necessary to process the insurance claim.

Failure to comply with these obligations may invalidate the insurance cover, leaving the participant fully liable for all resulting costs.

 

Article 10 – Personal Insurance

Each participant is responsible for obtaining adequate travel insurance and/or cancellation insurance covering the risks associated with participation in the event.

 

Article 11 – Photography and Video

During the Goat Run, photographs and video recordings will be made.

By participating, the participant grants the Organizer permission to use these images for:

  • promotional purposes;

  • social media;

  • printed materials;

  • the website;

  • press publications;

  • future communications relating to the event;

without any entitlement to compensation.

 

Article 12 – Personal Data

Personal data will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The data will only be used for:

  • organisation of the event;

  • communication with participants;

  • safety and security purposes;

  • marketing activities where the participant has given consent.

Participants have the right to access, correct and delete their personal data in accordance with applicable legislation.

 

Article 13 – Complaints

Any complaints must be submitted in writing to the official contact address of The Rebelgians.

The Organizer will endeavour to handle every complaint within a reasonable period.

 

Article 14 – Governing Law

These General Terms and Conditions are governed exclusively by Belgian law.

Any disputes arising from or relating to these General Terms and Conditions shall fall exclusively within the jurisdiction of the courts of the judicial district in which the Organizer's registered office is located.
