GOAT RUN FRANCE I
8-14 SEPT 2027
This is not a drive; it’s a slow-motion rebellion. With barely enough horsepower to bruise your pride, suspension designed to carry eggs across ploughed fields, and an engine that sounds like determination itself, the 2CV becomes your passport to getting gloriously misplaced. From misty mountain cols to sun-bleached plains, we’ve crafted a route that celebrates simplicity, charm, and the art of arriving late. Gather a few friends, embrace the wobble, and discover France the way it was never meant to be rushed.
Dicover all the details for your next adventure on wheels:
1. the route
Start: Provence France; Domaine de la Santonne, Apt
Finish: South-West Belgium, heritage site Transfo Zwevegem
Distance: 1.200km (ish)
Time: 1 days test driving, 6 days on the road
Sun-bleached backroads, gravel farm lanes winding through vineyards, forgotten mountain passes, sleepy villages where time leans against the café wall. This is La Douce France, discovered the only way that makes sense: behind the thin steering wheel of a Citroën 2CV.
The road is yours to conquer. Where you drive, where you stop, and how gloriously lost you become is entirely your call. Emergency technical assistance is available only when continuing becomes impossible. Sleep beneath stars, beside fields of sunflowers, or wherever the engine finally sighs “enough.”
It’s not about arriving quickly — it’s about arriving changed. The 2CV doesn’t conquer France; it courts it gently, one bend, one village, one absurdly perfect moment at a time.

3. ENTRY FEE & WHAT’S INCLUDED
The 2027 entry fee is €695pp* based on a team of four people.
That makes it a measly €2.780* for the entire engineering marvel on wheels.

The Adventure in between
Six days of unapologetic adventure, where France serves up its beauty and its brutality in equal measure, and every mile earns a story.
You’ll rattle along gravel backroads, skim beaches, cross rivers, and crawl up mountain lanes that test both optimism and the legendary patience of a 2CV.
Underpowered, open-roofed, and gloriously stubborn, the Citroën 2CV turns the journey into a celebration of slow travel, shared laughter, and perfectly imperfect progress.
-

A community of likeminded idiots
We'll introduce you to 2CV’s veterans if you want a chat before the adventure. Most importantly you get the company of fellow Rebelgians in France. You're joining a collective of genius-idiots drawn to the call of overland stupidity.
Refundable Vehicle Deposit
We take a refundable vehicle deposit of €1.500 per team, due when keys are given to the driver at the launch.
The deposit is fully refundable and deductions will only be made if the 2CV is seriously damaged or if there are bits missing. If you don't bring it to the finish line we'll need to use some of your deposit to recover it so it's best, and cheaper, to get it there yourself.
We understand the 2CV’s will take a bit of a kicking, so we don't deduct anything for normal Goat Run grade wear and tear. We'd rather not have to take a deposit at all but it's a boring necessity so we do our best to make it as painless as possible.

4. THE CITROËN 2CV
The mighty Citroën 2CV comes packing a gloriously underwhelming engine that wouldn't frighten a determined lawnmower. Skinny tyres, body roll that'll have you questioning physics, suspension with more optimism than precision, and just enough weather protection to remind you you're outdoors.
In other words, it's beautifully unqualified for what you're about to throw at it.
Engine
2-cylinder, air-cooled boxer
Engine Size
602cc
Transmission
4 forward, 1 reverse
Fuel Capacity
25 litres
Top Speed
About 90km/h... eventually.

5. PIMP MY 2CV
Now we're getting somewhere. Nothing says "absolute motoring legend" quite like a gloriously scruffy 2CV wearing your own questionable masterpiece. We'll send you a digital template for your bonnet decal, door sticker or rally flag. Create your design in Photoshop, Illustrator, Paint—or grab some crayons if that's more your speed. Send it back to us and we'll turn it into a proper vinyl decal or rally flag that'll make your little French shopping trolley look like it escaped from a very questionable motorsport team.
Big, bold designs work best—subtlety is for estate agents and accountants. Just remember, we'll print exactly what you send us, so if you've accidentally written "Pubic Racing Team" instead of "Public Racing Team", you'll be explaining that joke at every fuel stop.
Best of all, once the adventure's over you can peel off your decal—or take your rally flag home—and proudly hang it in your garage, workshop or anywhere else that deserves a reminder of your magnificently questionable artistic talents.
6. driving licence & travel insurance
To drive a 2CV on our adventures, each driver need a full, valid car driving licence from your home country and an International Driving Permit depending if you are from outside Europe.
Always check that your travel insurance covers you for driving a classic car. Insurance companies have an impressive talent for wriggling out of paying if you've missed the small print, so it's worth spending five minutes checking before you spend five hours on hold.
Vehicle Insurance
Your glorious little 2CV comes fully insured, so you're covered if things don't quite go to plan. That said, insurance has its limits, so we'd still recommend avoiding collisions with tractors, ditches, mountain goats, or the rear end of a very expensive Porsche.
Travel & Medical Insurance
You'll also need decent travel insurance that covers both you and the adventure you're embarking on. We joke about breakdowns, bad decisions and questionable navigation, but accidents do happen. So buy proper travel insurance. Future will be extremely grateful.

7. on the road costs
If you've done one of our adventures before, you'll know the drill. If you haven't, prepare for your wallet to breathe a sigh of relief. Costs are refreshingly sensible, which means you can spend less time worrying about your bank balance and more time wondering whether your 2CV will make it up the next hill.
Expect to pay somewhere between €10–25 for a decent meal, depending on how fancy you're feeling.
Accommodation ranges from around €40 for a simple place to crash, up to €100+ for somewhere with a swimming pool, crisp white sheets, and enough charm to make you briefly forget you're driving a tiny French biscuit tin.
Fuel is one of the few things your 2CV doesn't consume with wild enthusiasm. Even after a full day's driving, filling the tank is unlikely to cost much more than a decent round of beers.
8. WARNING
Let's get one thing straight. This isn't a guided coach tour with matching polo shirts and someone else making all the decisions. It's your adventure, and that means you're responsible for it from the moment you turn the key.
We'll hand you the keys to a gloriously quirky 2CV, point you towards some of France's finest roads, and send you on your merry way. What happens next is down to you. Get lost, take the scenic route, fix the odd mechanical wobble, or discover the best village you've never heard of—that's all part of the fun.
That freedom also comes with responsibility. You're expected to drive safely, respect local laws, look after your little French legend, and make sensible decisions when they matter. We can't steer the wheel for you, and frankly, we wouldn't want to.
The best adventures are never perfectly planned. They're full of wrong turns, unexpected detours, stories you'll laugh about for years, and the occasional "whose stupid idea was this?" moment. Embrace it, take responsibility for it, and enjoy every wonderfully ridiculous mile.
